SAN ANTONIO, Texas – On Saturday, December 13, L.D. Howard, Independent candidate for Texas House District 124, hosted a "Tea, Tacos, and Resources" community gathering at Exquisite Elegance. The event brought together residents from across the West Side and Greater Lackland area to discuss a vision for the district rooted in faith, service, and "Love in Action".

Addressing a diverse room of veterans, families, and community leaders, Howard emphasized her unique position as a non-partisan voice.
"Being an Independent is a statement move," Howard told the crowd. "We don't have the big money backing of the major parties, but we have the voices of our community at heart. Love in action can take those voices all the way to the State Capitol".

A U.S. Air Force and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs retiree with over 20 years of service, Howard is running to become the first Independent candidate in over 50 years to win a general election in the Texas House. Her platform, guided by the scriptural foundations of Romans 8 and Matthew 19:26, focuses on bringing dignity and sustainable solutions to the most vulnerable neighbors.

Key Highlights from the Event:

  • A "Humanity-First" Vision: Howard spoke on the importance of "holding space" for those who feel unseen, particularly youth, seniors, and fellow veterans.
  • Community Strength: The event featured a call for residents from Marbach to Culebra and Greater Lackland to unite to ensure the district's economic and social needs are no longer overlooked.
  • A Legacy of Service: Howard drew on her experience as a clinical mental health counselor and entrepreneur to discuss holistic support for underserved families.

"I may be blind, but I see every one of you," Howard remarked, referring to her own journey of resilience. "I may be deaf, but I hear our community. Technology and faith have afforded me the opportunity to speak on your behalf, and I know our voices will be heard".

The campaign will continue its listening tour with events held every second Saturday of the month, starting in January 2026.
